Four Risky Teen Behaviors All Parents Should Know

Do you know what skittling is? How about tussing, playing space monkey or the fainting game? Do you know which items in your medicine cabinet can give kids a “high?” If you don’t, you should—chances are your kid does. They’re all risky behaviors teens are doing these days.

While there’s certainly nothing new about teens taking risks, many of these activities can have deadly outcomes and are also starting at younger ages. The best way to help your child be safe is for parents to stay up on what’s going on and know the warning signs.

In the slideshow below, I detailed four risky behaviors today’s kids are doing that all parents should be aware of. Read through it and talk to your child. Hopefully you can prevent a tragedy.

We are a ground breaking, non profit organization leading the way in educating, informing and warning on the dangers of self asphyxiation..'The Choking Game'...

I lost one of my 13 year old twins, Gabriel, on May 6, 2005 from this wicked, high risk, thrill seeking activity. Thnak you for speaking out on it's dangers and helping to save lives!

I am thankful to see this bringing more awareness. I also lost a 16 year old son, almost three years ago, to the "choking game". Thank you for sharing, and please continue to do so.

In your recent piece on potty training, I was shocked. Most of the mom's commented on being good for the environment, but no one said anything about cloth diapers. I used a diaper service when my children were small. I also was working 40-60 hours a week at the time. I have tried talking every pregnant woman I know to do the same. It's environmentally a good choice, plus you always have a clean spit rag handy. My youngest never gave me a problem taking naps, no matter where we were, because I always laid a diaper on the spot for his face. He would be out like a light.
